If you now connect an Airport Extreme or Express and it starts issuing its own IP numbers, there is a danger that it will decide to issue a number which the first router has already put into use - 'double NAT'. This results in two devices with the same IP number, and chaos.

Solved: Airport Extreme - HughesNet Community - 77526 On the Airport Extreme's "Internet" tab I've got "Connect Using" set to "DHCP” which gets addresses from the HT2000W. In the Mac's "System Preferences" > "Network" > “Ethernet” > “Advanced…” button > DNS tab I've got the DNS Server set to 192.168.0.1 (the HT2000W address.) Enabling NAT-Pmp or UPNP on a AirPort Extreme for Plex Enabling NAT-Pmp or UPNP on a AirPort Extreme for Plex server remote access. I'm surprised the AirPort is not whining about double NAT. To keep the confusion down, you're going to have to set your Verizon router to bridge mode so your AirPort can handle it's duties of DHCP, NAT, etc.

May 01, 2014 · Hi guys, Having a little trouble getting an airport extreme to work in my Windows AD environment. The device is set to double NAT (airport extreme does DHCP on it's own subnet, but the WAN port is assigned to an IP address that is on my main subnet, which has DHCP handled by a server).

I like being secluded and not being able to see everyone else on the airport utility so I'm going to keep the airport extreme in double nat mode for now. Thank you for all the info to those who
